Trauma Care Skills Lab

This year will we will be providing you a very unique opportunity to take your ability
to manage the trauma patient to the next level. The Trauma Care Skills lab will provide you the with the chance to brush up
on some old skills and learn a few new ones.
We will be using high fidelity simulation manikins, a pig lab, and the latest state of the art trauma
care equipment to review and teach these skills. The course will be instructed by highly skilled and experinced instructors
who have years of trauma care experince.
Here are a few of the subjects and skills that will be covered during the course:
- Trauma Assessment
- Wound Care and "Stop the Bleeding" techniques including turniquet application, use of
hemostatic dressings, and wound packing
- Basic airway management
- Advanced airways including surgical crics
decompression and the use of chest seals
- IV/IO placement and fluid resusicitation
